THE RACE REVIEW
· After starting the race from the 13th position, Hornish radioed that his No. 12 Snap-On Ford Mustang was tight in the corners over the opening laps.
· At lap 83 Hornish reported that his Snap-on Ford had begun to develop an issue with the ignition.
· A lap 103 caution flag gave the No. 12 Penske pit crew the chance to look under the hood of their Ford Mustang, where they discovered a faulty plug wire. However, they did not have time to change it and stay on the lead lap.
· Hornish would maintain a solid presence in the top-12 for the balance of the race despite running on only seven cylinders.
· Late in the race, Hornish worked his way through lap traffic and managed to bring his underpowered machine home in the 12th position.
· With the result, Hornish maintains the lead for the series title. He holds a six point advantage over second-place competitor, Elliot Sadler.

YOU HAD AN ENGINE ISSUE YET FINISHED STRONG, TELL US ABOUT YOUR RACE.
“When the engine started missing I figured it was going to come apart, and it turned out that it was a spark plug wire issue. I knew that tonight was going to be rough. Our Snap-On Ford Mustang was a top-five race car if we had all eight cylinders I’m real proud of the guys and all the work that they did. They gave me a good car. I don’t know if I jinxed myself, but I said over the last couple of weeks that if we can get through these races and do what we need to do and minimize our bad days to be a 15th-place finish instead of a 35th that we’ll be alright and low and behold we get ourselves into a 12th-place.”
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO STILL HAVE THE POINTS LEAD TONIGHT?
“You always want more when you go out, and feel like you had a good race car. You feel that you could have been in the top five with but at the end of the day it’s a real good feeling. It’s exactly where I wanted to be leaving here. I wanted to be in the points lead. The point lead may be a little bit slimmer, but I love going to Atlanta and the tracks that we’ve got coming up like Kentucky and Chicago – all places that I genuinely enjoy racing at. There’s not a place that we go to for the rest of the year that I don’t feel like we’ve got a shot at winning if we put ourselves in the right position.”
